It's (almost) here!  The next big project from NPCtendo!

With blessing from Kkat and a talented team working with us (including a professional VA, hioshiru-alter, TopPlush, and BenchThiefProductions), we are taking on the task of producing a professionally voiced audiobook of Fallout Equestria.

The crowdfunding campaign will begin tonight, and you'll be able to see it here:  igg.me/at/FOEaudiobook

We hope you're all as excited as we are!  If you happen to be at Trotcon, join us for the launch of the campaign at our panel in Panel Room 1 at 9pm!

Hi, I'm afraid that I'm not one of the contributors to your Fallout Equestria: The Official Audiobook. Is there any way to buy the copy of this awesome audiobook, especially with all the quality pluses that you clearly stated in your stretch goals? I'd really appreciate it if I get the fully finished product of this wonderful story, especially with all the stretch goals achieved.

While I hope this gets funded and I really look forward to getting my copy if/when it does, I worry about what might happen if it doesn't. Is it possible to extend the deadline in order to get the funds needed? Or do we get refunded and you have to start all over? Please tell me you aren't going to just stop if it doesn't reach the goal.

We are currently looking into extending the deadline to give other people a chance to back the project. However, due to the nature of crowdfunding campaigns like this, if we don't meet our goal, everything is refunded and nothing happens. We're hoping it doesn't come to that, but that's why we're encouraging everyone to spread the word as much as possible!

well damn... I'd love to buy this... however it's a little disconcerting to us... I mean on one hand we're finally getting a legit piece of work for Everyone we'd assume... on the other hand... there is No feasible way you can reach 26, thou in a month. Well, less you go really Heavy on the advertisement. like cut off your's and your friends baby makers heavy. Maybe even donate your organs... but in all seriousness. I would really love to make this work for you. I mean if I had money of my own I would help, I mean it... I'm Sorry that I can't do anything for this.

Our Disconcert is that you're trying one hell of an upbringing. we're a little afraid that you're going to run yourselves rampant, much like Stable-Tech Studios did. I know I'm personally going to be destroyed if another one of these doesn't make it... of course that's just my selfishness talking.

anywho. over all, the best of luck to you all.  I really F***ing hope this works out. With that. I guess we're off for now. good night...

It's a large undertaking, we definitely know that haha.  However, as word is spreading and the ball is rolling, our funding is increasing every day.  It's our hope that we'll get this funded within the month here.  And if we run ourselves a little ragged in the process, it'll be worth it.

In the meantime, anything you can contribute helps.  Even if that just means spreading the word to your friends and getting this out there.  We appreciate any little bit!

Understandable but as I said. I think you might need to go U2bing, Twittering, Facebooking... hell of a shit tone more to make this work.

With that however... in a few comments down... My understanding is that you guys aren't going to release it for everyone. just to the backers... which means no matter what I do. I won't be able to get it... I would vary much die happy if My understandings were wrong.

With that With that... we're still gonna help I think. it's just not going to mean a thing to us if we can't buy it off you once it is released

Oh, don't worry on that. We are doing everything we can to spread this campaign around.

As far as plans for a release after the campaign, we're trying to not get ahead of ourselves at the moment. There's a lot of work to be done still, and the campaign needs to be funded. We don't want to promise people a post release and have them bank on that, only to have the project not reach its funding goal. So while it'll very likely be a reality, we're taking things one step at a time here.

wasn't it just spell it out for you.

the end game... is to get it done... to make it something you can touch.

I'd take it, once that's done, they'll do some more planning to do what you want... maybe.

So how are you able to make the working Pipbucks anyhow for the Lightbringer set?

The base for the Pip-buck starts with a 3-d printed shell.  It is sanded to remove the ridges from the printing and then primed.  I then paint the Pip-buck with the base coat and assemble the shell.  It is assembled with a combination of pins, glue, screws, and other hardware depending on the part of the Pip-Buck.  After that more coats of paint are applied to enhance the look of age and wear which a device like a Pip-boy would acquire in the wasteland.  After that the electronics are installed and tested and the final pieces are attached.  At that point you have a working Pip-buck!

Sounds pretty neat, though what kind of electronics will be involved in it? Will it be able to use GPS to tell you where you're going? Or have a mini keyboard so you can type in tasks to do each day? Heck, given the way NK has been acting, a Geiger Counter would be a good addition just in case things end up like the last episode of 'The Last Man on Earth'.

Hello, I have a few concerns about the project and I'd like to hear your thoughts/answers on them:

-26k USD is a huge goal, maybe too big regarding the state of the fandom in 2017. We are not as many as we used to, and even though very generous, this goal seems to be unachievable in only a single month. Maybe adding more time to the campaign, or using a different funding way (spread over time instead of gathering everything at once) would be a wise choice, otherwise I am afraid you might not reach the amount of money you ask for.

-The reward budget is really really high. 8k USD (including shipping) is a third of the funding goal, and in my opinion a big part of it is unnecessary and bumps the project's price too much. I am mainly looking at the 60 CDs set and the LP record dedicated for excerpts ; both will probably cost a lot and while they undeniably form a nice collectible, I doubt anyone will actualy bother playing all 60 CDs. To me the goals should keep a reasonable level, keeping things like the "Get the digital audiobook before everyone else" , "Get better quality audio files" and "Get a limited physical edition" and avoiding expensive rewards.

-A comment caught my eye: "To your question: this is a not-for-profit project and we will not sell the audiobook after the campaign. It may eventually be made available for those who couldn't back it, but backers will get it first. Since the project is only possible with backers, we want to encourage and reward those who contribute to the project. Thanks!". I may just misunderstand it, but it looks like the audiobook is not guaranteed to be made public after the project is completed. And that is an important thing that should be mentionned in the project description: will the audiobook be available for free for everyone in the end, or do you have one month to purshase it or miss on it completely ? In the case of a negative answer, it would be a rather bad choice for the project, as it would mean that people do not just help funding the creation of a fan content, but actualy just purshase the said content ; going from donations to orders, even in a no-profit result. And as the end product is digital, making it available for a wider audience should not have any additional cost (or very little compared to the rest of the project). I'd be fine with the idea of physical editions and lossless files being only for backers, but I would not understand not releasing the audiobook to public after it's finished.

Regardless of that, good luck for your campaign !

Hi there!  Thanks for bringing up your concerns for us.  Let me address them one by one here.

-This is true.  26K is a very large goal, and were going to be doing our best to make it.  We are already at 15% of our goal in just a week, so I've got high hopes!  Unfortunately, due to the way campaigns like Indiegogo or Kickstarter work, once the campaign time and goals are set, they can't be changed.  The only recourse we'd have is if we don't make the goal, we could resubmit it at a lower goal and longer campaign later, but hopefully we won't have to do that!

-Agreed.  When we were calculating and budgeting everything, we predicted that physical reward tier rewards would be much more popular.  However, we are planning on adding some new tiers in the near future, such as a plush tier to the campaign.  Stay tuned for those!

-This is a fair point.  As we're carrying out this campaign and evolving it, we know things will change.  At the moment, there's only plans to release this to those backers who supported theis campaign.  Though the idea of a future release after production is finished is something we're strongly considering.  If that were the case, future buyers could purchase the basic digital version with all money going directly to our chosen charity, International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War.

I hope this answers all of your questions.  Let me know if there's anything else I can help you with!

Tanks for the answers.

I really really hope that you will release the project after its done. I myself am unable to fund it ; and I would hate to miss on that just because it came at the wrong time of the year.

One way to do it would be to expand the "purshase" backer tier beyond the end of the crowdfunding campaign. On an official website for exemple. That would allow people to keep supporting the project overtime ; and people who simply could not pay in august will still be able to get the result.

WHAT!? Why only release it Just for the Backers?

I mean sure they should get it, definitely more so then those who won't pay... however what about those who "Can't" pay?... the ones that wants to help but clearly can't.

That unto itself seems like a vary poor decision to make. =/

I mean I have NO IDEA how money works. I don't have any sums to my name, so ultimately I can't buy it either way but Still... why are you folks making it a private endeavor?

Hell I know some folks, hell some non-bronys, if they were comfortable with the conditions, would jump at the chance to "Back" you guys up. 100 to 1000 dollars a head. -_-.

However, now that I'm thinking on it, that means more money would be needed to distribute the finished product. & F*** 26,000 is to much to start with...

- This is a fair point. What I can tell you for sure is that, while the details aren't finalized and everything is reliant on the campaign being a success, there will be a release of some sort in the months following the delivery of the audiobook to all backers. This release will likely have at least a recommend charitable donation attached to it, and again will not happen until after all distribution to backers in completed.

I hope this answers all of your questions. Let me know if there's anything else I can help you with!

The digital poster, is that a larger version of the artwork by hioshiru on the campaign page, or different artwork entirely?

The digital poster will be a different piece of artwork.  The one on the campaign page is going to be the album cover art.

Tentatively, we're planning to use the existing hioshiru-alter artwork for album art and commission a new piece for the poster.  With that said, I certainly couldn't blame you for wanting a poster print of the existing one - it came out great!
